<li>A blue box containing six small objects representing longer phonic words with a consonant blend at the beginning of each word. (Initial blend).</li>
<li>Large Movable Alphabet.</li>
<li>Floor mat.</li>
</ol>
<h3>Preparation</h3>
Example objects: flag, clip, frog, stag and stem.<br />
Other words to be selected from the Morris- Montessori Word List - Blue Level nouns with consonant blends.<br />

This is an individual presentation to be carried out on the floor on a floor mat. (Note: full work cycle to be observed).
<h3>Presentation</h3>
<ol>
<li>The Directress invites the child to set up the LMA. She places the Blue Box 1 with the lid underneath the box, just beneath the LMA on the right hand corner.</li>
<li>Directress take out three object, naming and lying out one object at a time in a vertical line below the LMA box.</li>
<li>Directress point out the first object, for e.g. Frog and says the name of the object again.</li>
</ol>
<ul>
<li>"Frog. What sound can you hear in frog?" (accentuate the individual sounds that we wish the child to pick up). Encourage the child to find the letter for the sound from the LMA and place it beside the object. Encourage the child to repeat the word and to listen for each sound.</li>
<li>As with the Pink series, the Directress directs the child to place the letters for the initial sounds and final sounds leaving a gap in the middle for the vowel. "What is the middle sound in frog?", says the Directress. (emphasize on the middle sound o). The child will respond by sounding 'o' and then picks up the letter from the LMA. Directress directs the child to place the letter in the middle between 'fr' and 'g'.</li>

Directress repeats the above exercise for all the objects in the Blue Box. When that is completed, Directress invites the child to go through all the objects by asking the child 'What is this?'

If a child repeatedly builds a word incorrectly, the Directress should ask the child to name the object. The child may be mispronouncing the word.

<li>Blend consonant sounds at the beginning of a word.</li>
</ul>
