</strong>All the shapes have straight sides. Some shapes are regular, others are irregular. The shapes are white on one side, green on the other.<br />
<strong>Set 2<br />
</strong>All the shapes have curved side. The shapes are white on one side, orange on the other.<br />
<strong>Set 3<br />
</strong>All the shapes have both straight and curved sides. The shapes are white on one side, black on the other.<br />

This is an individual or group presentation.

<h3>Presentation</h3>
<ol>
<li>The Directress mixes the shapes white side up on the table and invite the child to feel round the shapes and sort them into three sets, those with straight sides, those with curved sides and those with both straight and curved sides.</li>

<h3>Purpose</h3>
<ul>
<li>Introduce the child to the idea of irregular shapes.</li>
<li>Provide further experience of matching.</li>
<li>Develop language.</li>
</ul>

<h3>Variation</h3>
The cards are placed with the white side facing up. The child sorts the shapes into sets of straight sides, curved sides and those with both straight and curved sides. Then they may turn the control cards over to check.<br />
<br />
Do this with a set of cards at one time. Try to match the shapes with the cards. Then turn over the control card to check.<br />
<br />
The children sort the cards into:<br />
Triangles, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombus, trapezoid, trapezium, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon.
