Materials

  • Wooden stamps of four types: green unit stamps printed with the numeral 1, blue tens stamps printed with the numeral 10, red hundred stamps printed with the numeral 100, and green thousand stamps printed with the numeral 1000
  • Box with three compartments each containing 9 skittles and one counter in the hierarchic colors;
  • Four small plates

Preparation


Presentation

  1. Using dynamic addition work cards, the directress presents addition using stamps.
  2. The child forms the first addend and then forms the second addend, starting his columns well below the first addend.
  3. Now you do the addition.
  4. The child slides the rows together and begins to count, starting with units.
  5. At ten units the child must stop and change these to a ten.
  6. The units are put back and a ten is taken out.
  7. The child continues counting and changing.
  8. Now let's see what the result is.
  9. The number is read and the problem is recorded in his journal.
